A two part Adhesive Cement patching Compound.
Shieldpatch is manufactured from refined graded silica sand,
Portland cement, quality minerals and inert fibres, giving
interbinding properties for a very strong flexible product.
mixed on site with Multibond Adhesive (acrylic adhesive) it ensures
outstanding adhesion and binding properties to all prepared
surfaces. It possesses excellent exterior durability and is
very hard wearing with exceptional adhesion even over existing
prepared painted surfaces.
Shieldpatch has been specifically formulated as a flushing
compound for block buildings, concrete floors, and for use in the
Stongwall Insulated Wall Cladding System. It can be used to
repair existing concrete where adhesion is important. It is
used as a splash coat for solid plastering ensuring adhesion and
preventing loose drumming of plaster in future years. It is
especially useful for improving the appearance and weather proofing
of block buildings. It is applied in two separate 1 mm thin
flush coats over the total block areas, then the application of one
coat of Flexicure RT100 Sponge Finish resulting in a very
reasonable finish that ensures against loss of adhesion.
Shieldpatch can be left smooth or textured and over-coated with
one coat of Uniseal then one - two coats of Colourglo Acrylic Low
Sheen or Shieldtex Hi Build Acrylic Flexible Membrane or
Colourtrend Elastomeric Membrane (CTEM), that would result in a
guaranteed waterproof coating. Textures available in fine,
medium or coarse. Refer to the Acrylic Hi Build or
Texturecoat data sheets.
Insure all existing old paint is treated with Chemocide, agitate
using a nylon brush then waterblast clean. Remove all dirt,
grime and especially all loose flaky paint, allow to dry then pole
sand using 40 -60 grit sandpaper. To total area apply one
coat of Multibond Adhesive mixed with 10% Shieldpatch to achieve a
think slurry, apply with a roller one coat over total area, allow
one - two hours then apply two coats of Shieldpatch mixed with
Multibond Adhesive. allow four - eight hours between coats
then apply one coat of Flexicure RT100 Sponge Finish in colour as
desired. Overcoat using one coat of Uniseal then one - two
coats of Colourglo Acrylic Low Sheen or CTEM in colour
required.
Trowel, Hopper Gun, Concrete Mono Pump, and Terylene Gun.
Mixed A and B yields approximately 18 litres per mixed bag.
18m² per bag at 1mm thickness or 1m² per litre. On
blockwork, two coats applied to 3mm thickness would cover
approximately 6m² per bag and use (3 litres per m²)
1.5 - 2 hours depending on temperature.
Once setting up begins in container, do not add more water and
use (product would require dumping). Remix a new batch.
Should more working time be required, retarding additives are
available on request. To prevent fast drying always store
mixed material and use out of direct sunlight. Always keep
containers covered with polythene. Refer to Special Finishes
(NZ) Ltd for Fixit 100 Retarder to slow dry times and provide
improved workability in hot conditions or tropical climates.
For 1 Bag - Add 4 litres Multibond Adhesive to 20 litre
pail Using power stirrer thoroughly mix in total quantity of
Shieldpatch to a stiff paste, adjust with water to suit
application. Mix time - 5 minutes.
Mix 3 parts powder to 1 part Multibond Adhesive by volume,
adjust with water to suit application.
Soap and water, Brush Wash. Cclean trowels, tools, etc.
immediately with water to prevent curing, Immerse trowels / tools
in pails of water during stoppages to prevent drying. If cured
immerse in Special Finishes Brush Wash, then clean with water.
Store above ground level and keep dry to prevent lumping.
