Formica

1. Sand using 100 grit Wet and Dry sandpaper over total area.
2. Solvent wash with UC500 Reducer.
3. Mix 100% UC500 Reducer with Tetraprime White, apply one even coat.  Allow 6-8 hours for full cure (always inspect for good adhesion before applicatin of Basecolour)
4. Apply one even coat of Basecolour at 6m2 per litre coverage.  Allow to dry.
5. Multifleck Application - Alwasy apply a good thick coating as this allows for sanding to achieve a granite appearance.  Apply Multifleck @ 1.5 - 3m2 per litre dependant on fleck size (approximate coverage only 1.5 m2 per litre for large flecks, 3m2 for medium flecks) overlap each spray pass by 50% completely hiding or obliterating Basecolour (Basecolour should not be grinning through Multifleck), Allow a minimum of 30 hours perferably 48 hours especially in cold conditions to dry.
6. Sanding Multifleck - For improved appearance and to achieve a granite look it is best to sand Multifleck to open up the colour use 120 -240 grit Drilube sandpaper, avoid excess sanding on edges.  Sand using a circular motion, remove dust.
7. Clear Top Coats - For kitchens alwasy use Ultraclear 500 A & B or two pack Clearcoat (in Satin or Gloss).  Apply three coats mixed Ultraclear 500 A 1000mls with Ultraclear 500 B 1000mls - 1 to 1 by volume add UC500 Reducer 500 - 1000 mls.  Apply by spray as above, allow 30 minutes to tack off between coats, apply 3-4 coats, allow to dry for 8-20 hours then sand using 400 grit Wet and Dry sandpaper, apply a further 3-4 coats as above.  Allow 30 minutes between coats for the solvent to leave the film after each spray.  (If Ultraclear is sprayed wet on wet immediately after each coat then solvent entrapment will occur and the cured finish will always remain very soft).  Clearcoat could also be used as above refer to Special Finishes (NZ) Ltd for application details before use.
