Description:

Tetraguard is a single pack catalysed polymer incorporating hollow thick walled thermal beads, designed to provide exceptional thermal and insulation properties on galvanised iron, aluminium, steel, fibreglass, etc.

Uses:

All industrial and commercial areas that require thermaland condensation control - on marine, automotive, cars, boats, caravans, steel, aluminium, etc.

Laboratory Trials - Tetraguard Insulated Coating:

A number of tests were carried out by our laboratory;

Test No.1 Standard 2 chamber heat transfer apparatus

Ambient in laboratory

Tetraguard coated top chamber

Chamber (a) 1.1 to 1.6°C

Chamber (b) 2.0 to 3.0°C

 

 

The summary of these tests showed that the Tetraguard coating @ 600 microns had better insulation by 1°C to 2°C than the insulation batts.

Application to Steel, Fibreglass, Aluminium:

Primer;

Apply 1 coat of Tetracure P10 Primer @ 8-10 m² per litre coverage (diluted 50% with Tetrasolve Solvent).  Allow Tetraguard 30 minutes to cure.

Apply 2-4 coats of Tetraguard @ 300 microns wet filmbuild per coat.  Use as supplied and apply using pressure pot system intermitting each spray pass by 50% to achieve desired film thickness.  For thermal insulation a minimum of 300 microns should be achieved.

Clean Up:

Use Tetraolve Solvent or Brushwash

Coverage:

2.5 m² per litre @ 400 microns W.F.B.

Dry Film Thickness:

300 microns per coat.  Two coats recommended

Dry Time:

Touch 30-60 minutes, Hard 8-24 hours

Recoat:

1-4 hours, depending on ambient temperature.

Health & Safety:

Wear protective overalls, goggles and gloves.  maintain adequate ventilation at all times.  When spraying, use approved respirator with organic vapour cartridge.

Eye Contact: Flush with copious amounts of water, or dilute boric acid solution and seek immediate medical aid.
Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and warm water.
Warning: Keep away from sparks and open flame.  Smoking should not be permitted in working areas.  Extremely flammable liquid.  Keep out of reach of children - avoid breathing vapours - contains aromatic hydrocarbon solvents.
